There is a lot going on this weekend. Our Margaret Parrett Endowment for Religion, Culture and the Arts is hosting a series of events called:

DEEP GREEN FAITH: HEALING OUR SPIRITUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH NATURE

Here is a quick rundown of some of the opportunities.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON WORSHIP AT 5:00 P.M.

Pastor Kent will be preaching. The Scripture from Psalm 148 gives us a vision of the whole of creation joining together in song. We will watch a 4-minute experiential video of nature and then talk about what songs or testimonies creation may be sharing, and what our role within that might be.

SUNDAY MORNING AT 9:30 A.M.

On Sunday morning the Religion, Culture and Arts Commission is bringing two speakers to town to lead our worship. Rev. Jerry Cappel and Dr. Robin Gottfried come to us from The Center for Religion and Environment. At 9:30, Rev. Cappel will be preaching and Dr. Gottfried will be meeting with our Senior High Youth. The Scripture focus for the 9:30 and 11:00 services will be Romans 8:19-25.

SUNDAY MORNING AT 11:00 A.M.

At 11:00, Rev. Cappel will again be preaching and Dr. Gottfried will be leading conversations with adults and all ages in the Fellowship Hall. If you worship at 9:30 a.m., please consider staying for this conversation.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT 1:30 P.M.

At 1:30, there will be an event in Milner Library at ISU. The Religion, Culture and the Arts Commission has brought in an art exhibit on nature: “Prairie Suite.” That along with some local art will not only be on display but Dr. Tony Crowley, ISU Art Professor will be leading conversations about the artwork. Dr. Gottfried and Rev. Cappel will also be part of this conversation. Around 2:30, there will be a chance to go out to the ISU Horticultural Center for a guided nature walk and contemplative exercise, led by Gottfried and Cappel. Our Church bus will be available to give rides.

MONDAY EVENING AT 7:00 P.M.

The major public address of Gottfried and Cappel will be on Monday at 7:00 pm, with a reception following. We hope for a strong turnout from our church as we host the community.

I hope you can take advantage of these opportunities to grow spiritually.

I look forward to worshipping with you.Pastor Kent
