Saturday         5:00pm Worship followed by Virtual Fellowship

Sunday           9:30am Worship followed by 2 Virtual Fellowship Group (*New fellowship group for Newcomers)

I just finished reading Viktor Frankl’s book Man’s Search for Meaning. Written soon after his years in 4 concentration camps, Dr. Frankl offered some timely wisdom about finding strength during extraordinarily hard times. He noticed that those in the camps who fared the best were those who had something to look forward to, those who could imagine that life would be better at some point.

And now reading this book, around the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the camps, I was reminded of the power of stories from years back to give us strength and courage for the future. The odds they faced were incomprehensible. The courage they showed is inspiring. Their perseverance can fuel our determination in these days.

Biblical writers use this type of storytelling to inspire faith in their listeners. Remembering the ways that God was with their ancestors, the Biblical writers urged their listeners on to faith and courage when faced with adversity.

This weekend in worship, I’ve chosen one of the communal Psalms of Lament (Psalm 74). The Psalm, written on behalf of an entire group of people, expresses the anguish of the people and names it before God. And then, remembering all that God had done for others in the past, the Psalmist declares, “But I will trust You, O God. I’m confident that You will lead us through this.”

I hope you are well and safe. Don’t hesitate to contact your staff. We’re here to support you.

Look forward to worshipping with you,

Victor Frankl quotes, Man’s Search for Meaning

“Forces beyond your control can take away everything you possess except one thing, your freedom to choose how you will respond to the situation.”

“A man who becomes conscious of the responsibility he bears toward a human being who affectionately waits for him, or to an unfinished work, will never be able to throw away his life. He knows the “why” for his existence, and will be able to bear almost any “how”.”
