SERMON SERIES

WANDERING HEART: FOLLOWING PETER'S JOURNEY

Lent starts on Ash Wednesday, Wednesday February 14th. Join us as we follow Peter's journey with Jesus.

This Lent, we are focusing on the life and faith of one of Jesus’ most famous disciples. In Peter, we see a person who is both steadfast and unsteady, a dear friend and a betrayer, a follower and a wanderer. In Peter, we often see ourselves. By following Peter’s journey, we watch the story of Jesus unfold through the eyes of a very normal human trying to figure it all out—just like us.

This Lent, we will look for ourselves in the stepping stones of Peter’s story. We will reflect on the stages of our own faith journeys as well as who and what has shaped us along the way. As we wander, let us tune our hearts to sing God’s grace. May we rest in streams of mercy, never ceasing.

Lent at Normal First begins Wednesday February 14

Join us as we begin the Lenten Season!

Normal First is offering two unique services on Ash Wednesday that will prepare you for the Lenten Season.

12:10pm is a Taizé Service in the Chapel that will prepare your soul and mind for the Lenten season as you rest in God's presence.

6:00pm Service will be the traditional Ash Wednesday Service in the sanctuary.

"Taizé is a time to rest in God, to let the words listened to and sung penetrate one’s being."
(Brother John, Taizé Monk)

With its origins in the ecumenical community of Taizé, France, Taizé is a meditative worship service with scripture, repetitive prayer set to simple music, and silence as its hallmarks.  The scripture enlightens; the prayerful music soothes; and the silence allows reflection.  The Taizé experience inspires a calmness in body, mind, and spirit leading to a profound sense of peace.

We invite you to join a community of worshippers in this tranquil time to rest in God during this Lent season.
