BLUE ZONES: KEY INGREDIENTS FOR A LONGER, HEALTHER AND HAPPIER LIFE
What if I offered you a way to live a longer, happier, healthier life? What if this plan offered ways to avoid the modern chronic diseases – heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes? How much would you pay for a pill that could give you this, and an additional 10 to 20 years of health?
While people pay boatloads of money every year for products that claim to offer the fountain of youth, the truth is that there is no pill or no one plan that can offer health and happiness. There are lifestyles, however, which do lead to greater health and happiness.
This sermon series will look at the results of a study by Dr. Dan Buettner and a host of experts from different fields around the world. These experts studied “Blue Zones” or areas where it is common for people to live healthy and happy lives at the age of 100. From studying these zones, they were able to summarize nine ingredients that all of these people shared.
It will become clear through this series that these ingredients lead to a lifestyle that very much looks like the life that God has offered to us through the Bible and our faith communities. God’s vision of health or Shalom for us is much more than the absence of disease or harm. It is a beautiful and positive vision for our lives.
Let’s explore together how we can move toward this vision for our lives personally, as well as how we can help our families and our communities to move toward this vision.
