As the school year has started in full swing, it’s been great to have the Wesley Foundation Students coming in the building. I know they’re here because I see them, hear them, visit with them, and even “smell” (not them), but their food wafting up the stairs from the Wesley Foundation. After all, you can’t have a Campus Ministry without lots of food!

Our Wesley Foundation leaders have done a great job of preparing for the return of the students. One of the ways they are spreading the word about the Wesley Foundation is through their new shirt design. On the front are these words:

EQUALLY

LOVED

I really appreciate this message and have found that when I’m wearing the shirt, it’s pretty common for someone to comment on the shirt and express their appreciation for the sentiment.

It seems like this is a message that has sorely been drowned out by the messages of racism, bigotry, anti-immigration, homophobia, etc. None of which are the message of Christ.

This weekend, we’ll be concluding our sermon series on “The Basics of Christianity” and focusing on Inclusivity.

The scriptures I’m looking to for guidance are Galatians 3:28 – 29 and John 7:53-8:11. I encourage you to read these and reflect on them!

And then to help us learn more, next Tuesday, September 26 at 7:00, our church will be hosting the movie “Against All Odds” which takes a look at the challenges and obstacles faced by African Americans. Please consider coming as it will be an opportunity to deepen our understanding and be a part of a community conversation.

Look forward to seeing you in worship!
