As you come to worship this weekend, I invite you to take a moment and visit the new Prayer garden on the north side of the building. This is intended to be a place where anyone walking by the church may stop to pause and reflect and pray. May the garden remind us all of God’s presence with us always. May the garden nudge us to be prayerful throughout our days.
In worship this weekend, we’ll look again at the scripture from Luke 5:17-26, the story of the friends who carried the paralyzed man . . . through the roof . . . to be healed by Jesus. In my mind there were 4 men helping the paralyzed man. In our 11:00 service, the children will be teaching us and leading a song about these “Four Friends” who helped their friend.
Working together these friends were able to create a miracle for their friend. It seems like that’s what we are to be about as the Church. And we definitely do that best when we work at it together.
This African Proverb seems fitting for our Bible Story:
If you want to go fast, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.
In the midst of our 2018 Stewardship Campaign, we are focusing on Together We Can . . . . I hope each of us can think of ways to complete that sentence and imagine where God is leading us. We believe that when we gather our resources together, make a commitment with our money, time and skills, we can go far and help create miracles for others.
I hope you’re enjoying this beautiful weather and look forward to seeing you in worship this weekend.
