Who are we?
Disciples of Jesus
Caretakers of the Earth
Conduits of Grace
. . . and Community Changers. These next 2 weekends, we’ll focus on the call upon our lives to be engaged in our community. The misguided value of individualism has creeped into Christianity to tempt us into believing that faith is only relevant to “my” individual connection with God.
But that’s not the perspective we glean from the scriptures. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let’s consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, . . . but encouraging one another, . . . “.
When Jesus and the disciples were approached by 1000’s of hungry people, Jesus said, “You feed them.” Despite the disciples’ protest that they had “nothing”, all were fed and there were even leftovers (Matthew 14:13-21).
Together, in community, things happen that we could never imagine.
I’m glad you’re part of this church community. Look forward to seeing you in worship this weekend.
In worship, we’ll be celebrating Holy Communion and welcoming Jeff VanCamp, Chaddock Director of Development, to update us on the ministries at Chaddock (Quincy).
