July 18 @ 5pm or July 19 @ 9:30am

The scripture will sound surprisingly familiar this week – Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23 as we look again at the Parable of the Sower. Pastor Kim focused on God’s generosity of grace, spreading seeds everywhere, even when there is uncertainty about its potential for growth.

I love that idea of example of generosity and faithfulness. We don’t ever want to underestimate the possibilities out there when we live with generosity.

This week in worship, we’ll hear that same scripture, but I’ll invite us to look instead at the part of the plant that can’t be seen – the roots. We know how important deep, healthy root systems are. They can make all the difference between life and death, struggles and possibilities.

I’m going to use that analogy to help us think about what is needed in this time of racial awakening. We need greater understanding, deeper roots, to help us make significant headway in our work towards racial equality.

What are you doing to learn more and grow deeply in terms of racial inequality? How are you spending your time to grow deeper roots?

Look forward to “being” with you in worship.

Pastor Kathy
