Look at a map of our country during the Civil War and it looks strangely similar to our country today. Though the lines are drawn around different states, there are nonetheless “lines” that keep us divided still. Today, we’re not on the literal battlefield and yet it feels like we’re in a Civil War of hearts and minds and souls.
I’ve enjoyed the writings of President Lincoln, truly a theologian and wise man. I think his perspective on our country is something that can benefit us still today.
Our worship service this weekend will weave in the spirit of Thanksgiving with the wisdom of President Lincoln.
And, if you’ll be worshipping at 9:30, I encourage you to arrive a bit early so you can hear our Youth ring the prelude.
See you in worship,
Advent Place mats available
A set of 5 place mats, one for each week of Advent and Christmas, are available in the Narthex. We invite you to pick up a set of 5 for every place setting at your table. The black & white ones are perfect for coloring for all ages (suggested donation – $1). The colored ones are ready to decorate your table (suggested donation – $3). And if you’re really creative, you can have yours laminated so they last even longer. The place mats will follow the weekly themes of Advent worship.
