Rev Kent King-Nobles, Pastor
king-nobles-kent v2
At Normal First, Pastor Kent shares the good news that God loves everyone, has fun, enters into deep conversations about the meaning of life and what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ through the different circumstances that come up today,  plays volleyball, cries with people who are crying and laughs with people who are laughing, serves the poor and works for justice, celebrates the enthusiasm of children, learns from his elders. When not staying busy at the church, you might catch Pastor Kent watching his kids play soccer, going on walks with his wife and his dog, hiking, biking, traveling, or reading. He is guided by Matthew 6:33 “Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all the rest will be given to you as well” and is very passionate about overcoming hate and injustice with love.
Rev Kathy King-Nobles, Pastor
king-nobles-kathy v2
At Normal First, Pastor Kathy leads worship, conducts pastoral care, works with various committees and groups, teaches studies, coordinates small groups, helps lead confirmation class. Her favorite bible verse, especially when sung (“Great Is Thy Faithfulness” from Lamentations 3:23. In the song, we sing “Morning by morning new mercies I see”. Hands down, her favorite movie is The Sound of Music. On her bucket list, she would love to visit some more Biblical sites, especially the “Footsteps of Christ” tour in Israel where most of the time is spent walking the same path that Christ walked. She also would like to train for some long hiking trips here in the U.S. and hopes to run a 5K this year!

Rev Kim Burke, Director of Student Ministries
Leta Buhrmann, Finance Manager
Leta T6G_6422T
At Normal First, Leta manages all financial matters for the church including donations and disbursements.
Her favorite movies include the Harry Potter series, Indiana Jones series, and A Christmas Carol (every version, much to her children’s annoyance). If she was at karaoke, she would sing far, far away — and hope Janna is there to do the singing! A perfect day would consist of sitting outside on a warm day reading a good book, writing, and spending time with family.

Barb Todd, Member Care Coordinator
todd v2
At Normal First, Barb works with the Health and Member Care Commission to provide outreach to our congregation through programs and services. She works with staff and members to welcome worship guests, maintain membership reports for cultivation outreach, coordinates volunteers for church events, assists co-pastors with member information classes.
She loves going to concerts and musicals, reading, and traveling. If she could travel anywhere, she would go see the Northern Lights.
Janna Peterson, Director of Music
At Normal First, Janna fosters the building of relationships with each other and with our God in the various Music ensembles she directs and helps plan worship services.
Her favorite Bible verse is Ephesians 4:32: “Be kind to one another, forgiving each other, just as God also forgave you.” In her free time, she loves gardening and spending time with her family. If she went to karaoke, she would love to sing anything that Whitney Houston recorded! She would like to learn how to bring about peace and healing because our world needs it so desperately. In her lifetime, she would love to go to a taping of The Price is Right!

Zach Uphold, Interim Director of Christian Education

In her free time, you might catch her cooking, walking with her husband, spending time with family and friends, reading, or going to the beach! She never leaves home without sunglasses and if she could do anything for a day it would be holding babies in a hospital nursery.
